This diet plan has been designed for women so it has fewer total calories. The Mediterranean diet has been linked to many benefits including weight loss, heart health, brain heath, cancer prevention, and others. Theory is, people living around the Mediterranean generally live longer and suffer less from cancer and heart disease. This has been linked to an active lifestyle, low rates of obesity, and a diet low in red meat, sugar, and saturated fats. The diet is also high in fresh produce, nuts, fish, garlic, and a host of other helpful herbs.
