Anvanca Diet – Day 17: Total Calories 1275
Breakfast: A breakfast, which is high in protein and complex carbohydrates, has been shown to provide the most staying power during the morning. Each meal has been selected because it fits within the guidelines of the diet plan, and it provides a healthy dose of both nutrients.
Bowl of Whole Grain Cereal with Fresh Fruit
1 ½ cups of Cheerios® or similar whole grain cereal
½ cup of blueberries or strawberries
Splenda for sweetening
6 oz. of Skim Milk
Prepare cereal to your liking
Lunch: The goal of a good lunch is the balance between protein, fiber, and fat. Given the low number of carbs, we can see an insulin spike. We provide for a mid-day snack so that you can keep your blood sugar stable.

2 slices of Italian bread
1 ½ ounces of part-skim mozzarella cheese
3 large slices of tomato
Garlic Salt, Pepper
PAM® on non-stick vegetable spray
Pre-heat a sandwich press a spray both sides with the non-stick spray. (Alt: sauté pan) Lightly spray one side of each slice of bread with the non-stick spray. On the other side, place the cheese, tomatoes, and season to taste. Grill until golden brown.

Anvanca® Grilled Pork Chops & Rice
¼ cup of your favorite low cal marinade (recommend garlic & herb)
2 boneless pork chops
1 cup of cooked green beans
½ cup of cooked broccoli
Place the pork chops into a sealable plastic bag, and pour the marinade over top. Marinate in the refrigerator overnight, during the day while at work, or at minimum 1 hour before grilling.
Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat, and lightly oil grate. Remove pork chops from marinade, and shake off excess. Discard remaining marinade. Cook on preheated grill until the chops are no longer pink in the center, about 5 minutes per side depending on the thickness.
While the chops are grilling, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the broccoli in boiling water for 5 to 7 minutes until tender. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cook the beans according to the package instructions.
Dessert: ½ cup of slow-churn, no sugar added, vanilla ice-cream
The Mediterranean diet has been linked to many benefits including weight loss, heart health, brain heath, cancer prevention, and others. Theory is, people living around the Mediterranean generally live longer and suffer less from cancer and heart disease. This has been linked to an active lifestyle, low rates of obesity, and a diet low in red meat, sugar, and saturated fats. The diet is also high in fresh produce, nuts, fish, garlic, and a host of other helpful herbs.
